Mets free agent and 2-time Cy Young winner Jacob deGrom has officially signed a 5-year, $185M deal with the Texas Rangers that includes a $20M 6th-year team option that would bring the deal to $205M. This comes after weeks of seemingly less and less conversation between the deGrom and the Mets. According to NYP Insider Joel Sherman, they offered him a 3-year $120M contract but were unable to seal the deal as they were unwilling to go over three years, let alone go to five. The Rangers are not a shocking location as they were one of the biggest contenders to sign him once he became available.
